Avoid kinked ends by securing hair underneath the clamp in the direction of your desired curl. Or for a cool-girl beachy wave, leave up to an inch of the hair out of the curling tong.
Wind up your hair as far as you want it to be curled and hold for around 10 seconds.
Remove the tong gently by releasing the clamp and unwinding your hair.
If you want more of a set curl, reform the curl with your finger and clip up.
Leave your curls or waves to cool and then separate with your fingers. Brush out the ends if you want to loosen the wave.

Millie Mackintosh has announced that she’s shutting down her fashion business.
The ex-Made In Chelsea star, 28, took to Instagram last night to reveal the news, with the Evening Standard reporting that it’ll be liquidated owing hundreds of thousands of pounds.
Millie launched the company – which is officially called Cammac Venture Limited – four years ago, selling her pieces online and through ASOS. On Instagram, she detailed how it’s been a ‘top seller’, but it seems that wasn’t enough to keep it afloat.
She explained: ‘As someone who has always been passionate about fashion, I realise I have been incredibly fortunate to have had the opportunity to build my own fashion business over the past four years.
‘So, it is with great sadness that I have had to make the very tough decision to close it. Despite our best efforts and being a top seller with a number of our stockists, the financial climate in the fashion industry has proved immensely and the business is no longer sustainable.
‘The unwavering support from friends, family, the industry and customers has made this decision even harder.
‘I want to take this opportunity to wholeheartedly thank everyone who has been involved, especially my immediate team whom it’s been a privilege to work with.’
Fans were quick to send their support, with messages including: ‘Awww so sorry to hear that! Well done to you for all you have achieved and who knows what is on the horizon xx,’ and: ‘How very sad. Really loved your designs. I’m sure the future is bright. ❤️ [sic].’

You’ve probably seen photos of Meghan Markle everywhere this morning. Why? Well, she stepped out, once again, with her fiancé Prince Harry, this time attending a special service at Westminster Abbey in celebration of Commonwealth Day.
Prince William and the Duchess of Cambridge were also in attendance, and it marked Meghan’s very first official engagement with the Queen.
Naturally, Meghan knocked it out of the park with her latest style offering. The former Suits actress opted for a navy dress and matching court shoes, which she teamed with a tailored Amanda Wakeley coat and a white beret.
Just last year, Jones told British Vogue: ‘She really loved the world of fashion, and she liked the people in it.
‘It was an escape for her.’
This could mean that Meghan’s choice was a direct nod to her future husband’s mother, and it wouldn’t be the first time. Her engagement ring is known to include two stones that once belonged to the Princess of Wales.

Kylie Jenner has been forced to make a quick change on Instagram after fans called her out.
The reality star revealed on Monday that she was off to collect her new Ferrari – worth around £1.2million – which she reportedly received as a ‘push present’ following the birth of daughter Stormi last month.
However, Kylie caused a stir when she uploaded a photo of the vehicle and wrote: ‘Picking up my main girl’. This sparked a backlash from many fans who argued that this caption would surely be more suited to Stormi.
Now, we’re pretty sure that Kylie considers Stormi her ‘main girl’. But it appears that the 20-year-old took notice of the remarks as she altered the words within half an hour, this time writing: ‘Picking up my new b****’

It looks like Holly Willoughby was forced to change her outfit before filming This Morning, as her skirt was deemed ‘too short’ for television.
The ITV presenter has become known for sharing #OOTD posts with her Instagram followers each day, with many hanging on her every bargain buy.

One of the most highly publicised (and modern) rules of being a member of the British Royal Family is keeping your distance on social media, with Prince Harry’s fiancée Meghan Markle deleting her Instagram and Twitter accounts as well as her blog, The Tig, after the couple announced their engagement.
It seems however that the rules might be more like guidelines, as a member of the British monarchy created their own personal Instagram account just this week, becoming the first royal family member ever to be active on the platform.
The creator? Princess Eugenie of York, eighth in line to the throne.
The 27-year-old princess and cousin to Princes William and Harry launched her account on International Women’s Day, posting a video of her speaking about her scoliosis, a spinal condition she has long suffered with.
‘I can think of no better way than today, International women’s Day, to launch my personal Instagram,’ she captioned her first post. ‘I hope to use this platform to share the causes, passions and people close to my heart.’
She has since posted an additional three photos, raking in 21.3k followers, first a photo of her and her fiancé Jack, and then two throwback photos with her mother, Sarah Ferguson to mark Mother’s Day.
‘Happy Mother’s Day to my legend of a mother. And to all the mothers on this special day,’ she captioned a snap, going on to post a funny baby photo of her yawning, captioned ‘Good Morning Monday’.
We definitely approve of the royals getting involved in Instagram.

Forced changes to our habitual Instagram activity never goes down well – note the public reaction to every Insta update as proof.
There was the time Instagram controversially switched its logo, the algorithm change that affected who saw our posts and don’t even get us started on the threat that our profiles were being changed to a 4×4 photo grid.
While that trial was thankfully a false alarm, the new Instagram change definitely happened – this weekend – and the internet is not happy.
We are of course talking about the removal of Instagram story GIFs.
The relatively new feature was actually one of the only Instagram updates that didn’t cause general outrage, allowing users to add funny moving graphics to their Instagram stories. Removing them however made a lot of people very angry – and a lot of insta stories less interesting.
But why the big change? Well, that’s even more controversial.
Both Instagram and Snapchat removed their Giphy GIF feature after an offensive sticker involving a racist slur appeared in the ‘recommended’ section.
Giphy has since explained that the sticker was down to a bug in its content moderation filters, but both sites removed Giphy from their platforms immediately.
Thankfully it looks like this change is only temporary with the popular feature set to return in the coming weeks – this time without the offensive stickers, please.
We’ll just keep refreshing our phones until our beloved GIFs are restored.
Gigi Hadid and Zayn Malik just broke the hearts of Zigi fans across the world, confirming their breakup after two and a half years of dating.
There were rumours that the couple had split after they hadn’t been seen together for a few months, then after some unfollowing on Instagram the couple took to social media to break the news.
‘Gigi and I had an incredibly meaningful, loving and fun relationship and I have a huge amount of respect and adoration for Gigi as a woman and a friend,’ Zayn posted to his Twitter. ‘She has such an incredible soul. I’m grateful to all of our fans for respecting this difficult decision and our privacy at this time, we wish this news could have come from us first. We love you all.’
Just over 10 minutes later Gigi posted a similarly heartbreaking post to her Twitter feed.
‘Breakup statements often seem impersonal because there is really no way to put into words what two people experience together over a few years – not only in the relationship, but in life in general.’
She continued: ‘I’m forever grateful for the love, time and life lessons that Z and I shared. I want nothing but the best for him and will continue to support him as a friend that I have immense respect and love for. As for the future, whatever’s meant to be will always be.’
There’s no word yet as to why Gigi and Zayn have split but there’s clearly no hard feelings as they have shown with quite possibly the most amicable breakup announcements ever.
During a call-in to Australian radio show Kyle and Jackie O., the 62-year-old momager shut down speculation that Kylie Jenner‘s ex Tyga, rather than current boyfriend Travis Scott, is the father of her newborn daughter — gossip fuelled by Tyga himself on Snapchat back in September.
Host Kyle Sandilands said during the interview: ‘Tyga was chiming in saying maybe it was his baby.’
‘Oh no, no no. I think that was just a bunch of silly rumours as usual,’ Kris replied, as first reported by E! News.
Sandilands added that he wouldn’t believe anything until Kris confirmed it. ‘Yeah, you guys know better than that,’ she replied with a laugh. ‘You just gotta call me.’

Kris also called the current KarJenner baby boom ‘such an exciting time.’ In addition to Kylie’s daughter Stormi, Kim Kardashian West welcomed her third child, daughter Chicago, via surrogate in January, while Khloé Kardashian is eight months along with her first child, a baby girl.

After dating for two and half years, the young couple decided to call it quits – confirming the news in two very emotional social media posts on Tuesday night.
Twitter was a sea of broken heart emojis and crying faces. But fans were also quick to notice that Bella Hadid took to Instagram about an hour after the break-up was announced.
Sharing a photo of herself relaxing on a sofa – and, might we add, looking uber glam at the same time – the 21-year-old added a cryptic caption.

What’s the secret to perfect teeth? We sat down with cosmetic dentists Dr. Lisa & Vanessa Creaven, owners of oral care company Spotlight, to discuss the dos and don’ts of taking care of our teeth.
This is something we should be doing every day, people.
‘Regardless of how great you think you are at brushing your teeth, it is near impossible to get into every little gap,’ they told us.
2. DO ditch the manual tooth brush
An electric brush allows for more accurate and consistent brushing. ‘Manually you are inclined to brush up and down, which makes cleaning in-between the teeth next to impossible. Also most electric toothbrushes have a two minute timer to ensure you are brushing for long enough.’
3. DON’T skip the mouthwash
Although it’s obviously no replacement for brushing your teeth, using a mouthwash does help to maintain your oral health.
Lisa and Vanessa advise: ‘Antibacterial mouthwash can help with bad breath and some smaller oral issues. Look out for one that contains fluoride, as this can help protect your teeth.’
4. DO be careful what home teeth whitening products you use
According to the experts, an active ingredient needs to be present in order for teeth whitening to really work.
‘Hydrogen peroxide is used [by dentists] and in very few over the counter whitening products,’ they tell us.

5. DO remember that some food & drink can stain your teeth
Tea, coffee, red wine and fizzy drinks with lots of sugar are amongst the worst culprits. Anything that’s dark in colour is likely to cause staining on the teeth. Turmeric and curries are another culprit.
6. Do also remember that white wine isn’t guilt-free either
Sure, red wine can stain your teeth. But if you were thinking that reaching for a glass of white wine is better, think again.
It is highly acidic, and reports have stated that this can lead to a breakdown in certain minerals, such as calcium, which help protect your teeth from erosion.
7. DON’T put lemon in your drinks
We know. SHOCKING.
Whilst we always thought we were being super-duper healthy by having a slice of citrus in our water, we’ve now been told that we could actually be causing problems for our gnashers.
‘They are very acidic and this damages the composition of your teeth.’
Giovanna Fletcher has opened up about her pregnancy fears for her third child, a week after announcing she and husband Tom Fletcher are expanding their brood.
She’s already had two babies, but every pregnancy comes with its fears and worries.
Giovanna took to her vlogging channel on YouTuve – MumDays – to open up about being worried about the baby in her first trimester. Explaining that she found herself experiencing ‘unbearable pain’, she then said it turned out to be a stomach bug.
‘Last week I ended up with a tummy bug. I actually thought something was wrong with the baby because I’ve never experienced pain in my tummy like it’, she said.
‘It was all over and literally touching it ever so slightly caused me unbearable pain. I was actually worried that something was wrong but it turns out that it was a tummy bug.’
When she became ill with the stomach bug, McFly’s Tom posted a picture of her going to bed with a sick bucket, which at the time prompted pregnancy rumours.
He wrote on his Instagram: ‘She came to tell me she was going to bed because she felt sick…in case I hadn’t guessed. 🤢.’
The pair have also revealed they might keep the gender of the baby a surprise.
They already have two boys – Buzz, four, and two-year-old Buddy – but they won’t mind if they have another little man.
She said: ‘Every child is different no matter that gender they are, and actually, rather than looking at it as ‘another boy’, it’s another child, another human, another personality in to the mix.
‘It really doesn’t matter if they’ve got a foof or a willy.’
Speaking exclusively to GoodtoKnow, Giovanna opened up about the emotional transition of becoming a mum-of-two.
‘Your heart just grows. And then it grows again and again and you love your first child more than you ever thought you could when you see them giving love to the second child,’ she gushed.

Theoretical physicist and cosmologist Stephen Hawking has died aged 76.
Stephen was revered in the science world for his discoveries around black holes and general relativity, but he was probably most famed for his resilience, diagnosed with a degenerative motor neurone disease while studying at university and given just two and a half years to live.
‘I’m not afraid of death, but I’m in no hurry to die,’ the author of A Brief History of Time once explained. ‘I have so much I want to do first.’ And that he did – going on to become one of the greatest physicists of the 21st century.
While it’s a sad day for science, it is also a day to remember Stephen Hawking as the inspirational figure that he was.

Stephen Hawking’s death was confirmed by his children late last night, releasing a statement to The Guardian.
‘We are deeply saddened that our beloved father passed away today,’ the statement read. ‘He was a great scientist and an extraordinary man whose work and legacy will live on for many years. His courage and persistence with his brilliance and humour inspired people across the world. He once said, “It would not be much of a universe if it wasn’t home to the people you love.” We will miss him forever.’
The announcement prompted an outpouring of tributes from leading figures, from NASA and Tim Peake, to actor Eddie Redmayne who played Hawking in the 2014 film The Theory of Everything.
‘We have lost a truly beautiful mind, an astonishing scientist and the funniest man I have ever had the pleasure to meet,’ Redmayne said of Hawking. ‘My love and thoughts are with his extraordinary family.’

Newly opened last summer, The Spa at Manchester’s Midland Hotel offers a good slice of tranquillity in the heart of the city. Ready to wave goodbye to the hustle and bustle? Moddershall Oaks is set in the heart of the Staffordshire countryside, helping you really feel like you’re getting away from it all.
A homely retreat, there’s a range of luxurious treatments on offer. If you’re finding it hard to choose, we recommend the refreshing Body Wrap (£25 for 30 minutes). Formby Hall Golf Resort and Spa
If you’re not a fan of golfing, fear not. Formby Hall might be nestled in the heart of the Southport golfing district and boast some impressive offerings for those who love to tee-off, but the spa is a gem in its own right. After taking in the rolling views, head for the foot spas, steams rooms, ice fountain (super refreshing after a steam session) and experience showers, before settling in for your treatment. The spa uses ESPA products and we’d recommend the 55-minute Detox Wrap, £60, to leave you feeling relaxed and rejuvenated. The detoxifying treatment starts with a good skin brushing and full body exfoliation, before a marine algae wrap is applied to both purify and hydrate. You also get a lovely scalp massage at the end of the treatment, to leave your mind feeling as clear as your skin is set to look.
A favourite among celebrities including Michelle Keegan and Love Island‘s Amber Davies, Titanic Spa in West Yorkshire is an eco spa run entirely on green principles – the first of its kind, in fact.
It recently underwent a £500k refurbishment, and prides itself on using renewable energy sources and eco-friendly strategies. These include its own private borehole 100 metres below the earth’s surface to provide pure Yorkshire water, low U windows and energy efficient lighting.
Built in a converted textile mill on edge of the Pennine hills, the spa uses a range of pampering products from Decléor, Elemis, [Comfort Zone] and Neom Organics throughout the extensive range treatments, which can all be custom blended with aromatherapy oils for an experience that’ll meet your specific needs.
If too much choice is an issue, we’d recommend the Decleor Relax and Revive Face and Body Ritual. This will give you the best of all worlds, combining a body scrub, massage and facial.
Outside of the treatment room the spa facilities are an experience in themselves. Hit the heat and ice rooms to give your skin the ultimate detox, before curling up on a beanbag (fluffy robe compulsory) in the relaxation lounge.

If it’s the lap of luxury you’re after, look no further than the spa at Rockliffe Hall in County Durham. Spread over 50,000 square feet, the spa houses a 20-metere pool where spa butlers (they’re a real thing!) will bring you treats on a tray from champagne to freshly squeezed juice. Ah the joy. Then there’s the treatment menu. Rockliffe has a selection of signature treatments as well as the fuller list, our favourite being the two-hour Sacred Moments ritual, £150. One for the spa junkies, you’ll be treated to a skin polishing body scrub, a relaxing massage using hot poultices (like hot stones, but soft), plus a facial complete with head, neck and shoulder massage. No-doubt you’ll be ready for a nap after all that, which you can take in the sleep retreat room on a sound-therapy relaxation bed. Bliss.
If getting away from it all is key to your spa trip, there’s no better place than at The Swan Hotel’s Vu Spa in Cumbria. We’re talking countryside galore, plus dreamy views of the River Leven as it winds its way up to the Lake District. The spa is small and relaxed, so perfect if you’re not into overblown grandeur, but the treatment menu still comes heavily laden with ESPA pampering. Massages start from £40, but for a head-to-toe seeing-to we’d suggest the Ultimate Wrap & Full Body Massage, £95. Your skin is wrapped in a mud or algae mask to nourish and detoxify, before all your stresses and strains are kneaded away with an aromatherapy massage.

Last week we celebrated International Women’s Day. A day where women everywhere were celebrated: McDonald’s flipped their iconic arches and Kim Kardashian West launched her new feminist Kimoji’s to (just a little bit of) controversy.

Karen and Kevin Clifton confirmed their split on the radio this morning
Strictly Come Dancing‘s Kevin and Karen Clifton have confirmed their split.
The couple – who married in July 2015 – spoke about the break-up on Chris Evans’ Radio 2 breakfast show today, with Kevin explaining: ‘We just wanted to let everyone know that privately we are not together anymore but professionally we are stronger than ever before.
‘Dance is how we came together and is the glue that has held us together for years now. We’ve danced on Broadway, the West End, we have five Strictly finals between us.
‘We’re still the best of friends – we’ve got a lot of love and respect for each other. I still see Karen pretty much every day… we’re always throwing ideas around and putting things together creatively.
‘What we’ve found is that since we’ve been honest with each other about our relationship, we’ve unlocked this new wealth of creativity and we’re taking our professional relationship to the next level now.’
Karen added: ‘We have such great chemistry and for us it’s all about the storytelling and giving the best performance and entertaining and inspiring.
‘At the end of the day it’s about giving back to our fans and we love dancing together so much. We’re feeling very positive and it’s going to be one of the best tours.’
The pair – who dated for around two years – shared simultaneous posts on social media on Tuesday night, confirming earlier rumours that they had decided to call time on their romance.
Asserting their ‘love’ and ‘respect’ for one another, it seemed that they had parted on good terms.
Others spotted that the former One Direction singer had quietly unfollowed his former girlfriend and her mother, Yolanda Hadid, on Instagram shortly before making the split announcement.
Yolanda then took to her own social media account to post a particularly cryptic quote.
It read: ‘The only way that we can live, is if we grow. The only way that we can grow is if we change. The only way that we can change is if we learn. The only way we can learn is if we are exposed. And the only way that we can become exposed is if we throw ourselves out into the open.’
Gigi’s mum captioned the image: ‘❤️ And so it is……. #Life’.
Her followers took to the comment box to make the connection between her words and the latest news, with reactions including: ‘I will never ever forget zigi’, ‘Why Gigi n Zayn broke up [sic]’ and ‘I hope they find each other again. They seemed so perfect together…’
Of course, we have no idea whether Yolanda was making any reference to her daughter’s relationship status, and we need to respect that everyone involved will need to deal with things in a way that is best for them.
But she has since posted a photo of Gigi, congratulating her for a new range of sunglasses she has launched with Vogue.
Zigi may be over for now, but we think fans will be holding out hope for a reunion…
