What does it feel like to be in the presence of Dior-model-and-It-girl royalty? Quite sweaty, actually…

Bella Hadid is an angel. And I’m not talking about the Victoria’s Secret kind… She is not human. Packed in a sweltering room with around 100 Beauty Editors, influencers and celebrities all desperately toppling over each other trying to get that ‘gram, was Bella Hadid. But was she flustered and sweating like the rest of us? No, of course she wasn’t. Here’s what Bella had to say when LOOK’s Deputy Beauty Editor wrestled her way to the front of the room at the Dior Mascara launch in London…
Bella On Beauty:
“I was definitely more of a tomboy growing up, and it’s now that I’m learning way more about make-up. My sister was the one who first taught me about foundation and contouring. My mum has always had beautiful skin and lashes, now that I always send her Dior products she loves it.
I love the Dior Hydra Life Glow Better Fresh Jelly Mask, £44, have you tried it? It’s major. The Dior Hydra Life Lotion-To-Foam Fresh Cleanser, £27 is also perfect. You know what, it’s really easy working with Dior because the products are all perfect.
When it comes to beauty [I look up to] all of the supermodels in the 90s. They were always super simple and clean when it came to their make-up. Little touches to bring out the cheekbones and bring out the eyes. That’s what I try to focus on now. Oh, and great brows”
Bella On Style:
“Who’s my style icon? Rihanna. She’s everyone’s style icon right? [Gigi] will categorically deny it but when I go round to her house, she always has all of my stuff. Occasionally I realise it was actually me who left things behind there and feel bad for yelling at her about it but we always end up sharing clothes.”
Bella On Family:
“Gigi is my best friend. I love her to death. I just see her as my sister and vice versa so it is cool to be able to call her and not talk about work. If I am ever sad she will always lighten my mood. She is amazing. I love her.
I like to keep people around me who have known me since I was kid. They don’t care about what I do now and tell me not to be a b****. It’s important not to take everything so personally because in the beginning I was definitely reading everything written about me and it got really hard. I am trying to live my life the best I can and just be me.”
Bella On Holidays:
“I try to extend trips when I’m working. I went to Jamaica recently just for a day. I’d been shooting with Dior on the Friday, and I had to be back working on the Sunday – so I had just one day off and me and two of my best friends went just for the day!
I was in Dubai last week and I went sky-diving twice… We went one day and just loved it so much that we wanted to go again. I think I must just love jumping out of planes. It was the most calm I felt in a long time. I get more scared during meet and greets than I do sky diving!
My holiday essentials? Well obviously my Dior Pump ‘N’ Volume Mascara, a bathing suit and two of my girlfriends… Oh and a good sound-system!”
Dior Pump ’N’ Volume Mascara, £25.50 is available exclusively in Selfridges now and launches nationwide on the 3rd May.
