Turns out it wasn't such a laughing matter for Ryan Gosling...

Would they scream? Would they cry?
See: So There Was A HUGE Mistake At The End Of The Oscars
We’re of course referring to that Oscars 2017 moment- in which it was mistakenly announced that La La Land had won the award for Best Picture, only for the entire cast to be told it was actually Moonlight whilst *on* *stage*.
Painful. So very painful.

The cast and crew of La La Land celebrated on stage after the film was mistakenly named Best Picture
And, as we watched (and cringed) from behind our sofas at home, it was pretty unclear how the La La Land crew should have reacted in that moment.
*Momentarily pauses to re-live the moment*

One member of the cast, however, who displayed a somewhat surprising reaction to the Oscar’s blunder was actor Ryan Gosling– who began chuckling on stage.
Jordan: We didn't win. There is a mistake. Moonlight won.

And so, almost an entire month later, we finally have answers for Ryan’s reaction…
The actor shares with Adobe Summit that whilst himself and the La La Land cast were on stage, ‘I was watching people start to have this panicked reaction in the crowd and guys were coming on with headsets and I felt like someone had been hurt’.
He continues, ‘I thought there was some kind of medical situation, and I had this worst case scenario playing out in my head’.
Ryan then added, ‘And then I just heard ‘Oh, Moonlight won’ and I was so relieved that I started laughing’.
You just can’t make this stuff up.
Ryan’s La La Land co-star Emma Stone has also spoken out about the blunder, sharing that there is no hard feelings between the two production teams: ‘‘I f****** loved Moonlight. God, I love Moonlight so much! I’m so excited for Moonlight! And, of course, it was an amazing thing to hear La La Land. I think we all would have loved to win Best Picture’.
